Investment Design Process and Implementation

To find your perfect investment solution we must first understand you.Initially, your advisor will take you through a fact-finding process, in order to understand exactly where you are today – how your financial assets are balanced and what is being added to these through savings, income, bonus’ and growth. Then, he/she will walk through all of your future objectives, to better understand where you will need to spend this money in the years to come. Finally, he/she will discuss the framework of an investment solution, which would perfectly fit your needs.

To find the optimal solution, we will look at key areas such as;

  • The amount of money you wish to invest
  • Which currency options you prefer
  • Whether you wish to add to this over time, either on a regular or ad hoc basis
  • The investment time horizon
  • How much flexibility you require
  • Whether you need complete liquidity or can lock some money away
  • Your investment experience
  • Any specific areas of interest
  • Your expectations for growth

Once this framework for an investment platform has been discussed we’ll ask you to complete a risk profiling questionnaire. This will take into account both your ‘attitude to’ as well as ‘capacity for’ taking on risk. It will be the final piece of the puzzle, allowing us to next start to look for the solution.

Once we have built a complete picture of what your ideal investment platform would look like, plus your history of investing and risk appetite, we will begin to work.The first step will be to find the perfect investment platform. Depending on your requirements, this could come from an investment bank, private bank, on-line investment platform, insurance company etc.The main goal here is that the platform itself offer as many of your ‘wish list’ items as possible. The next stage will be to build an underlying investment portfolio. A balanced and diversified mixture of holdings that is in-line with your risk tolerance.

Once both of the above are complete, we will produce a report and recommendation. This will include all features and benefits of the investment platform, the investment portfolio itself and all costs clearly laid out.Your advisor will then arrange a time to walk you through the proposal. The aim of this is to ensure that you are happy with the entire structure. It is at this stage that we can iron out any inconsistencies and add or take away from the initial recommendation.Once you are happy to proceed we can move on to opening and funding the account.

Now that we have an investment strategy in place, let’s bring it to life.Your advisor will explain the account opening process, including all supporting documentation that will be required. He/ she will also explain normal timelines for getting the account opened and how to fund it.Once the account or platform has been set-up and funded you will have direct on-line access to what is happening within the account. At the outset, this will mean seeing the recommended and agreed-upon initial investment portfolio being invested into.

Now that everything is up and running we can move on to support and advice.You will already have agreed upon the level of investment support you require – from execution-only (do-it-yourself) to full discretionary (we will do everything for yo). Depending on your needs, you will have a dedicated asset manager on hand to answer any queries – by phone, message or email. They will also proactively contact you at set intervals, which again will be pre-agreed. Finally, we always send out quarterly client reports – bespoke reports, which include market overviews as well as commentary on your investment portfolio itself.Aside of investment management you will have the disposal of our administrative function.
